La Cinémathèque de la Danse was set up in 1982 as a branch of the Cinémathèque française by former chairman Constantin Costa-Gavras. Its aim is to conserve, promote and produce film documents relating to choreographic expression in its broadest sense.
An independent association since 2005, La Cinémathèque de la Danse shows films from its collection and organises thematic screenings from the world of dance and jazz, in France and abroad.
